Books take us on an adventure through different geographies, cultures, emotions, and feelings. Yet all this literary magic starts at your library!

Drew Blue Shoes has the show for your 2024 Summer Reading Program‘s theme Adventure Begins at Your Library! Drew takes children on an adventure to different countries and different times, each exemplified with a kid-friendly book and a magic trick! Kids are in-charge as they help out with each tricks and choose which place to go to next! Drew also shares some of his own adventures and encourages kids to start their own adventure journal!

Shoes Your Own Adventure: Reading Program

Take a step into Drew’s world of books, mystery, and magic! Based around the classic Choose Your Own Adventure Book series, Drew shares his favorite books, taking kids on an excursions around the world, through different time periods and across countless cultures. Drew may know some cool magic tricks, but Drew also knows that the real magic is in books – which allow us to see the world through other’s perspectives and journey through our own imagination. Drew’s show touches on reading comprehension, the importance of communication (both speaking and listening), and even teaches kids how to find the right book in their library!

This show is tailored for elementary schoolers and features many young volunteers who assist Drew on his literary explorations. From The Knight and the Dragon to The Alchemist, kids of all ages will help out with magic tricks that are customized for each twist-and-turn their adventure takes.

Finally, after learning from other people’s stories, kids are encouraged to start writing their own story!
